Each quarter (or monthly as the community grows) we will have a competition that challenges our skills and creativity. The challenges will never repeat within a year, ensuring a constant flow of fresh and exciting challenges. Each game category could have it's own competition. Depending on the amount of activity within each game category, one could be monthly while another is quarterly.

Some example competitions:
  • Most Creative Custom Boss Fight
  • Coolest Teleporter NPC/Item
  • Unique In-game Event
  • New unseen FusionCMS module
  • Best looking shopping mall
  • Small fun content to be hidden as easter egg
  • Write the most original server concept
  • Custom Questline/itemset
  • Server logo PSD
We could also ask for feedback from the community on competition ideas/challenges.

Requirements:
  • All entries will need to be freely available to the community in order to participate. Entries can be submitted in private but will need to be released at the latest the day after the winner is announced.
  • Depending on the challenge specific requirements may be added. E.g. with a shopping mall; either 1 mall in a neutral area or 2 malls in faction specific areas.

Rewards
Below is a list of possible rewards from which the staff can pick and choose for what they believe will work best.
  • Rank: The winner of each monthly competition will be awarded the prestigious "Competition Winner" rank for one month. This rank would serve as a symbol of recognition and honor within our community.
  • Special Usergroup: the winner will be added to a special usergroup called "Champions' Circle" or a similar name, alongside other former winners. Membership of this group is permanent and will allow for ongoing discussions and collaboration among the winners, creating a close-knit community of talented individuals.
  • Mention in the Community Spotlight (assuming it's implemented): The winner will be prominently mentioned in the Community Spotlight, where their achievement will be celebrated and recognized. This mention will serve as a testament to their creativity and dedication. However, note that the winner will not receive the Spotlight perks associated with the regular Community Spotlight features.
  • Get a say in the next theme: The winner of the previous month's competition would have a voice in deciding the theme or challenge for the upcoming competition.
  • Credits/points/bits: The winner will receive a X amount of credits to spend in the bits-shop
  • Badge: The winner will receive a special badge recognizing their work. Each competition should have a new badge. This way badge collectors might have an extra incentive to participate multiple times. Unlike the rank mention earlier, the badge is permanent.
  • Special posttext color: The winner will get to post in a special textcolor only available to them. This would require the post editor to be modified to prevent others from using this color.
  • Custom postbit: This feature is usually only available if you pay for it. How cool would if you could unlock this feature by paying with time and effort? Possibly only for a limited time only, like with the rank, to incentivize to keep participating.
Since our community is still rather small, I would advice against a private forum section or discord channel.

The difference between competition and the spotlight suggestion is you have to specifically enter a competition which has a specific assignment/theme, while everyone is automatically eligible for the Community Spotlight.

Sick suggestion, will definitely bring this up tomorrow within the team.
Everything what you listed up is doable, also forum development wise.
A fat yes from me.

Cool!
This suggestion doesn't really take into account the amount of active members we currently have, which is rather limited. So we might need to make some adjustments.

For example;
- Quarterly or 6 weeks instead of monthly (+/- 4 weeks) to allow for more time for people to join in
- Seek feedback on what kind of theme/challenges people would be interested in participating
- Keep the challenges/themes rather simple, e.g. a whole custom scripted instance is harder than creating a staircase event ingame.

We could also expand on the rewards;
- Credits/points
- Badge
- Special posttext color

Hello @PhenomGW,

I have discussed this with the team and unfortunately we have to decline this suggestion for the time being, as we work on something in the back that needs our full dedication right now.

However, I have noted this suggestion down for the future, this will be coming a hundred percent.

Sincerely,
Eldamar

That's fair, you can't do everything at once. Feel free to reach out to me for feedback when the time is there.

Top post edited with the following changes;

  • Quaterly instead of monthly, since the community is still rather small
  • A competition for each game category, since we're no longer WoW-only
  • Credits/points as reward
  • Badge as reward
  • Posttext color as reward
  • Postbit as reward

Yo, as mentioned before, it is coming.
Just no ETA as of right now, because it needs custom plugin development which I don't have the resource for as of right now.

Might update you on this matter soonish.

No worries mate. All in good time.

What exactly will need a custom plugin? Maybe we can work around it some how?

I love your ideas!!! However i would give to each month winner a award.... "Competition xxx March 2022" or something.. I see lots of members, glad they removed atleast i hope they remove daily coins, as it bringed nothing more then people comming on daily basis to collect them. Posting and being apart of community is what we need :D

Glad you like it :) I strongly believe more people will join if we have up to date content that's freely available. Hence the requirement that every participant needs to release their submission even if they haven't won.

I'm suggesting a quarterly competition because we still have only a hand full of people posting daily. For the competition to be a success we'd need at least a few participants. A longer competition allows for more people to notice the competition and it'll give them plenty of time to make something.

Perhaps quarterly is to long tho, so maybe a competition every 2 months instead? Feel free to share your views!
